paullink 1 Posted October 18, 2008 Of course it never sleeps, i hope our photos will last more, but the rust surely owes you for this great photo. The darker top and bottom create a natural frame that shows off the main theme.Regards Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted October 18, 2008 Something in your work always catches my attention. it is the way this simple rusty subject ,its angle, and the way its form is placed on the frame. The lighted rectangle, lighted exactly with the right amount , and shadowed at the right places.... It simply has an old beauty, good color palette, and a very interesting composition. jeffl7 0 Posted October 19, 2008 A great shot. The color, purple against gold, is quite pleasing. This is one of those photos that is simultaneously about nothing and everything. So many details of life go unnoticed, and this is a reminder to pay attention. Link to comment
dianadeaver 0 Posted October 20, 2008 The title is wonderful. The image has great tones...but I am afraid I am not familiar with objects so I am loosing meaning I think. Visually to me...there are a bunch of shapes. But then the great expression is in the tones! Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted October 21, 2008 Nice work Gordon. I suspect that the lighting is not natural? It is too centered and perfect for an artistic image. Rust does sleep, but its dreams are nightmarish. Link to comment
tomadakis 0 Posted October 23, 2008 Very well done, the pieces come together in this unique image in a great way! Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted October 23, 2008 Ramon; Gracias, the light and the combination of textures where indeed what drew me to this scene. Hussien; Thanks for the comment and glad you like the photo. Apostolos; Thanks for the comment. Perhaps rust takes an occasional cat nap :-) As for our photos I guess that time will tell. Ben: Thanks, glad it gave you a grin :-)))) Pnina; Thanks for sharing your interpretation. I was crossing the railway tracks in search of a completely different photo opportunity when this caught my eye. Josh; Thanks for getting the reference and for offering an equally appropriate quote from the same album :-) Jeff; I am in full agreement on that one. As I mentioned to Pnina, I was going down the track looking to shot something unrelated and this was just lying there beside the rails begging to be captured. Diana; The title is borrowed from Canadian singer / songwriter Neil Young. The composition of the photo is really just about the shapes and texture so the objects don't mean much. The horizontal shape in the background is a railway rail the nail and plate are to hold the rail in place and the purple is a creosote soaked railway timber. The other object I have no ideas about it just happened to be on the tracks. Shawn; Astute observer that you are, I did add a significant amount of vignetting to the image, otherwise it is pretty much untouched. Antoni; Thanks for the comment. Sometime the oddest combination that we stumble upon make strong composition. Glad you like this one. Link to comment
