iancoxleigh 0 Posted October 15, 2008 This is low tide, early morning, at the mouth of the Columbia river in Astoria, Oregon. All comments welcome. Thanks for your time. Link to comment
isabellathompson 0 Posted October 15, 2008 I really like this shot. The mossy green fence pilings really lead the eye in well. Great DOF and foreground interest. Link to comment

younes 0 Posted October 20, 2008 This is one sweet shot Ian! The X in the fg, the contrast of the green with the reddish water and the bluish sky work wonderfully together. If there was one slight suggestion it would be to crop some off the sky...but that's a minor nit. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 15, 2008 Ian; Amazing colour combination. The pilings themselves are simply beautiful to look at. The way they tie the foreground to the distant hills makes for a strong composition. The quality of light I adore, so soft yet making that green almost glow. I like the amount of sky in the frame. The sky itself seems ambiguous, on the one hand appearing laden with storm and on the other hand seeming serene. I think you grad. ND leaving the horizon line lighter than the remainder of the sky is what gives me this feel. I am not suggesting it is a draw back to the contrary I think it adds complexity and mood. iancoxleigh 0 Posted December 17, 2008 Thanks Gordon. I agree that the sky is a little bit on the surreal side -- both in colour and tone. But, it seems to work with the sand and algae covered pilings. Link to comment
