In pursuit of dramatic skies we drove to remote part of Maine andvisited Baxter state park and selected this small river to photographthe autumn colors. Just before the sun disappeared over the horizon,it lit up the top of the tree with a brilliant golden light throughthe crack in the clouds of approaching storm.

Baxter State Park, Maine.

Hi Jay. This is some gorgeous light kissing thge tops of the trees. Your composition is sweet, with the vanishing point of the river placed off-center. My only nit is not with the image or anything you have done, just that an awesome image like this cannot be fully appreciated in its low-res state. Maybe some day I can justify a print purchase. I would love to have this one!

And it is a beautiful light!... Colors, a magnificent sky, plus a very pleasant composition, and the perspective that guides the viewer eyes, they make a very good photo. Best regards.

A great photo. As an artist , I would paint the water in similar colors to the sky. Strange how yellow the water and how blue the sky...Congratulations to you on a superb image. There is a wonderful range of tones and colors. I too like how the tops of the trees are lit, but I would straighten the left fir tree! The rocks on the right shine out nicely. 6/6 Cheers from Canada! -Michael

Disapointed Mark and I didn't get a chance to meet up with you and Varina. You were always just a few hours away. But I'm happy you found your 'shot'. Hope to see more of your trip on here. I'd love to see what I see from someone elses perspective. :)

coming to this one Jay. It's a beauty! Is that Mt. Katahdin? We were up in this area a couple of years ago and even though the Autumn colors were "to die for" I did not get anything that looked as fine as this. Nice work with the ND grad. Regards.
