beautox 0 Posted October 10, 2008 Light was mostly not good but suddenly the sun broke through for just a minute and caught the tree on the right. Used HDR to capture the shadows properly. Comments please. Link to comment
tmjacobs 0 Posted October 11, 2008 I think you have to refine your HDR technique (or more precise: the tone-mapping), this and a few other photos I've seen exhibit the 'usual' HDR flaws: colors too saturated and (too) noticeable halos, in this photo the blue part of the sky to the left of the tree. Apart from that this seems to be oversharpened a bit. I still think this could be a nice photo, but you have to redo the tone-mapping and postprocessing IMHO. Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted October 11, 2008 Very beautiful in many ways--the sky, the sunlight on the leaves and tree... But it has the HDR problem (I get it too) of low midtone contrast. Also, In spite of the HDR, the lower part of the falls is blown completely to white. Very troublesome at the 'Larger' size. Link to comment
beautox 0 Posted October 12, 2008 I've reprocessed the image to take the comments onboard. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7997852 Please check it out before critiquing...thanks... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 12, 2008 Bob, I think you've got an exceptional image here. Compositionally the light in the trees, the water moving through the image out to the horizon and top it off with a great sky. All and all a very cool comp. Yes Theo and Les summed it up pretty well with the halos, sharpening, highlights, but don't despair, this is a beautiful scene! Link to comment
