Pnina:

I totally agree with Gordon's evaluation. The B&W is far more dramatic. It displays the motion of the head far more effectively, and has more detail.

Outstanding!

Shabbat Shalom!

Glauco, thanks for your feedback.

Amal, thanks as well for writing your preference ;-))

Fred, thanks for the mythological feeling it gave you, as it fits the supernatural sight ,that depict as a matter of fact a natural event.... Which does not look natural...;-))

It is one of the photos that I have debated with myself , quite sometime, about which version, color or B/W to upload as first, I left it for sometime, came back to it, and could not come to a decision ( so uploaded both...).... as each is a bit different in its emphasizing details, I understand the differences you see in both, and I will try to work a bit more on this version ( the points you have mentioned),but I think that not much is really needed.

I decided to upload the colored version because it is ,as I wrote to Gordon, so much the colors( not only literally but the feeling of colors) that was my final decision to upload both, and the colored as my first choice.

I understand Gordon's interpretation and his B/W preference and the explanation of his feeling, of the head as a spirit , " decapitated" from and leaving the body.... As the motive of death can be felt , also with the FG dancer ,in some part of the dance. .

You sow it as ethereal, and otherworldliness and I like that depiction very much (as others have depicted it as surreal), I like the eloquence of your wording and expression! ( that I connect to and learn from...)

Fred, in CS3 ( PS) you can convert to B/W, and than I work selectively of separate parts( if needed), I was using chanel mixer before and use it sometines also playing with the different colors cursor, Do you have any tips to offer of your experience? Will appreciate it . Thank !

Liz, Thanks as well for well depicting your feelings,it was important to know that both were " talking" to you in a different way

Michael, thanks as well. It shows again, that we are individuals, with different reading of a given work. This one in particular is not easy, as Fred already mentioned.

Thanks again all of you, it was very educating and lightening reading your impressions on this photo..

Like you, I often use the channel mixer. I also find that, sometimes, using a black and white gradient can have a stronger influence on conversions from color.

Life is fleeting. I like how her spirit appears to be flying from her body abruptly, as if freed. A photo with a lot of depth.

I also like the color version much more than the B&W. It seems richer, and given the subject matter, it seems easier to connect to.

Ahmet, thanks!

Jorg, it was done with a camera....;-))

Fred, thanks , I appreciate your information, I think that you work with CS2, and I don't remember if it has the B/W conversion ( CS3), which I find very good as well as it has the colors cursor too, and I have found it easy to work with.

Jeff, glad to see you, I hope your vacation was great. Thanks for writing your preference and your impressions.it is interesting that the viewers are divided between both versions, nearly equally, so my debating with myself had reason....... and I'm glad I have uploaded the two of them.

Fascinating shot with great effect gained by the slow shutter speed, melding motion with uniformly warm colors. Nice.

Hi Pnina,

The previous posts say it all. Very creative and just a bit frightening.

Well done!!!

Perfect timing for Halloween! The blur really makes you feel like you're looking at what we've been conditioned to associate as a spirit leaving her body. That wavy foreground adds a floating feel. Very good representation of the dance you described.
