Two images combined in Photoshop - used multiply option in layers - also used a layer mask. Mother and daughter were sitting on a low hanging branch of a Cortland apple tree in Rougement Quebec. Apple Picking is a tradition here in Quebec (I suppose other places also). You pay a fixed price (10.00) for a plastic bag and you walk through the immense orchard picking apples and filling up your bag. What does not fit in the bag you munch away. There is a corn field labyrinth, tractor rides, boiled sweet corn and all kinds of apple products for sale. The sweaters give you an indication that temperatures are cooling off.

Nicely done. I do not recall you discussing layering images and such before. This is a very evocative piece that speaks of family and love and and warm feelings. I really like the central composition and the color balance. I also like the composite and masking. The one thing that distracts, IMHO, is the grass silhouette the runs from the mothers chin down to the bottom right corner. My eye flows down that line too easily and pulls me off the faces quicker then then I would like. As always, all the best.

The warmth emanating from the light and smiles are wonderfully captured. I like this perspective because it is not so obvious. I compared it to someone stumbling upon a treasure by chance and admiring it from a distance.

Thanks for the kind and constructive responses (Craig I agree) comments. I will stop by your images later - it is way past my bedtime at 3 in the morning.

Thanks - yes PN can become a vice threatening to take control but I won't let that happen. Blessings,

I love what you've done here, and this inspires me to try something similar. It's also apple-picking time in Massachusetts, and we go out to the orchard with our kids, too, and fill our prepaid bag. My daughter is having her fourth birthday at the apple orchard. With your okay, I may try a similar approach. Your result is so dreamlike, it really elevates an already sweet scene.

Please feel free to try anything you see that I have done - that is what PN is or should be all about. I am presently reworking this image based on Craig's input. Over the next few days I am hoping to work my camera to the max - mostly Fall scenes and I am contemplating going out very early tomorrow morning - still hoping for some fog but I have not seen any recently. There is one dust spot on my D300 that the 'self cleaning' won't remove so I will have to take extraordinary measures in the next few minutes. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" - too many, might cause you to not keep the doctor away. Best regards,

Tony, A beautiful creation...very artistically rendered. I really like the warm happy expressions on mom and daughter...very heart warming. The overlay gives the image a nice candid feel. Well done.
