I like your sense of humor.  Very cute!  Anyway, the way you've done it is fine spatially.  When I did it I kept the same ratio, which encroached too much on the sides.  You've made it a bit wider, which works better.  Thanks for the laugh and example!

Yes, its wider than the regular magazine size.  The longer crop as you said doesn't work.  They really should change their magazine format.  It's time anyway!
