A more personal view than some of my recent postings. I hope this is

enjoyed by some. All comments are welcome. Thanks!

Simple uncluttered shot. Only thing i would like to have seen is just a little bit more water under the rocks. Also, not sure if i am crazy or not, but the horizon looks a little bit crooked to me. But then again, it is almost 4 in the morning by me ;-)

Thanks for the comments Fred. I am glad the simple, straight forward approach worked for you here.

I think I might have some more water in the foreground on my original 2x3 aspect shot. I'll certainly go back and see what I think of giving those rocks some extra room.

The horizon is straight. It was crooked as shot and I spent a lot of time deciding what was truly straight. The problem is that the horizon dissolves into the mist on the right. Look on the left and pull down the browser window and you'll see it is level.

The dissolution of the horizon line and the subsequent merging of sea and sky is crucial in as much as it leaves the only hard lines in the composition being the hard edges of the rocks. The slow merging of tones is fantastic.

I do agree that a bit more breathing space below and possibly to the right of the rocks would improve the overall balance. Again Ian I am loving these minimalist compositions.

Thanks again Gordon.

You know, it really surprised me upon returning home how distinct a division there was between images I made just "for me" and images I made "for the public" in my files. I have a few that straddle the line; but, mostly there is quite a distinct differentiation.
