I've been looking at this photo many times and I still don't know how to comment it ;) I like the subject of this photo very, very much. Even the simple center weighted composition feels right. But something makes me uncomfortable... Maybe it's the extreme high key effect that steals ones attention from the center of the frame? In a way high key seems to be the right choice here to isolate the subject, but in the end I think it goes just a bit over the top. I almost feel like I have to look at the wide bright areas at the edges and not the submarine - and I'm sure thats not your intention :) I wish I could be more exact on my thoughts because I really think this is a charming picture and its the postprocessing (or extreme back light?) that takes away something from it. Dear Samuli, thanks for your comment. I suppose looking at the picture makes you feel lost because of the lack of reference points in the horizon? If you look at my portfolio I did an earlier shot of this boat and processed it with HDR. The background was distracting at that picture. This time I added contrast so the foggy background faded away. Maybe too much? Thanks again.
