I don't understand why no one has critiqued this yet, consider you've already got six ratings that average high.

This is one of the best shots I've seen on PN. You've got an excellent vantage point, a crisp architectural foreground, the train whizzing by is perfectly represented, the background is romantic in contrast to that with a fantasy feel to it. Your light and colors are well done, but you should know that if you convert this to b/w, the image will also be fantastic. Try it and you'll see what I mean. I don't usually encourage a person with two versions, but in this case your work is so good here that it works both ways.

The only thing I've noticed is that there is a distortion of some sort on the right edge of the photo, where the image doesn't match up. I don't know if that was in the original image or if you tried to rotate it and that happened or what, but you could crop that small part out.

Keep up the good work. Cologne never looked so good.

Regards,

Maria

I found your response to my critique at my portfolio page. The best place to respond to a critique is here, at the photo's page, by the way.

You know that once you edit the photo, you can replace the image. You don't have to delete this image and start over. You can simply go to Photo Admin, then Edit Image Info, then follow as directed. Sometimes it can take up to two days for the new version to show up. In case you didn't know that, I thought I would let you know. That way, you don't have to lose the critiques you have already.

Good luck,

Maria

Hi Maria!

Thanks for the advice! I'm quite new on photo.net so there's still much to discover for me. I'll replace the image with a newer, corrected version.

As suggested by Maria di Liegro, I tried a b/w editing of this photograph. You can have a look at it here:

Cologne B+W

Sorry that I don't post it here on photo.net, but as I'm not a subscriber, I've only a limited number of posts available.
