david_chamberlain3 0 Posted September 24, 2008 Can someone explain why this shot is getting low ratings?I cant improve if nobody leaves some remarks, thanks. Link to comment
eric_w 0 Posted September 25, 2008 I can't speak to the other ratings, except to say that I've noticed that for my photos the first few anonymous ratings are usually low. In any case I'll give you my honest opinion. Looking at this, my eye really wants to settle on the eye of the butterfly, which looks a bit out of focus. Since you had such a tiny DOF, only some of the legs and body are in focus and my eye wanders a bit, looking for a place to settle. This is a very tricky shot to pull off, and I think it misses literally by just a hair. Also, the empty space on the right does nothing for me. My preference would be to crop that out and go in tighter on the subject. Link to comment

david_chamberlain3 0 Posted September 25, 2008 Thanks for your comments Eric and Pierre. The eye looks soft here, but in the full size JPEG there is pleny of detail and sharpness there.I resized this shot twice before posting and lost detail because of this. Its my own fault and a lesson learned. Thanks again for your remarks, cheers Dave Link to comment
