michaeljlawson 0 Posted October 1, 2008 I'm not sure if this is "As Shot" or edited. It's looks to have decent exposure, but it's too centered for me. My opinion is this shot would do better following the old "Rule of Thirds" philosophy. If you have cropped this from a larger original I would re-crop so he is more to the left and there is more space to the right or maybe see what a tighter Vertical crop looks like. Not a big fan of this style frame for this shot either. I've seen it work on some portraits, but I could do without it here I think. Link to comment
matman1975 0 Posted October 2, 2008 I have a different point of view than Michael about your composition. When you try to take a close-up of a wild animal's head (such as in your case)... sharpness and rich detail are the key elements for a successful portrait and the animal must cover the centre part of the frame...(so that the surroundings won't distract the viewer's eye from the main subject). The old rule of thirds is a must only if the photographer wants to include information about the environment that the animal lives...not when his goal is to take a portrait. I like your shot very much, composition is correct and the overall color range very compelling too. Nice shot Linda, greetings from Greece Link to comment
