tom_goetz 0 Posted October 14, 2002 I have a few questions about this image: + Does it bother you that the ends of the legs are cut off? + Does it bother you that the end of the wing merges with the background? + Does the lack of detail in the first two segments of the body bother you? Thanks for your answer! Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted October 15, 2002 This is a wonderful image of a beautiful creature. We used to raise dill plants (they particularly like dill and that may be what this specimen is clinging to in your beautiful image) so these insects would be with us in the summer. I posted some captures of the chrysalis phase of this particular type of butterfly if you're interested in seeing them. Link to comment
waynemorgan 0 Posted October 15, 2002 No no and no. What does bother me though is that I don't even have any photos close to the beauty that this one is. This is one fantastic photo!!!! Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted October 16, 2002 That's AMAZING... What time of day did you shoot it ? It's supposed to be easier to find them sitting still in the morning before their wings are warm enough to fly. But, I can never find butterfly sitting still long enough to get a sharp shot. This picture is perfect ! Thanks for posting it :o) Link to comment
tom_goetz 0 Posted October 16, 2002 The picture was taken about mid morning. This was a newly hatched butterfly. It's wings weren't ready to fly yet. As to catching them still, a long lens and extension tubes and/or diopters helps. Link to comment
ajax 0 Posted March 23, 2003 Great photo, Tom. Only thing that disturbs me is a cyan cast. Maybe those leaves and the butterfly's wings really look like this. Anyway, it's a bit disturbing :) Link to comment
