pnital 36 Posted September 19, 2008 Laurent, great to see you posting again. It is a very "ambiguous" dating... But a fast one it is....I wonder if the dating is the figure near the pole on the L?( the figure there looks like in the middle of a clush with the pole itself......;-)) or with the figure on the right, that looks like standing in the red light, waiting....( where you in Amsterdam lately?...lol) Well Laurend. a good and well composed riddle here.... lrenard 0 Posted September 19, 2008 I like it verry much also. the way color and "grain" are balancing together..it creates a certain "atmosphere of interogation" that is very sensitive...hope you understand what I mean. bravo! Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted September 20, 2008 The motion, grain, and color all work so well together. And the title cinches the deal. An expert idea and execution. Link to comment
nichroe 0 Posted September 22, 2008 This speed-shot half casual half very well seen,,,makes lot of place for the viewerto end the story the way s/he likes,,,much more alive than a clean sharp-shot,,,best niels Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted September 25, 2008 Pnina, This was taken in Soho London where I work, and if it is somehow the equivalent of Amsterdam's red district, this was taken at a bus stop, and the young woman was probably just waiting for the right bus more than waiting for a date I guess. Laurent, Thanks for your time and your comment Which is very clear. Thanks Jeff, always nice to see your posts. Niels, Thanks : trying to let poeple get their own interpretation from a photo is something I try to achieve as much as I can. The difficult part beeing to give enough narrative to trigger imagination, but also let anough space for it to develop. And also trying to find an interresing caption, (when getting the right inspiration ), disconnected with the obvious would both start to confuse the observer, and open imaginative paths which wouldn't propably open under an "untitled" photo. gordonjb 10,860 Posted September 25, 2008 A provocative title for an unusual and successful image. In my story line, it looks more like impending collision than dating. You've managed a spot on shutter speed for this. We certainly get the sense of speed yet the main players are still distinct enough to remain intriguing. I like the way in which you have used the curb and the walls on each respective side to frame the subjects. The left side figure's face being transferred onto the lamp post is a cool effect. nichroe 0 Posted September 26, 2008 I think it is important to look after something else than the beauty in the beauty,,, and let the beauty finds itself the way it looks natural,,half casual,,,putting libsticks on a pig,,it is not a pig any longer,,,it is manipulated,,and we are very sure of that a cat is much more beautiful than a pig,,,etc,,that s human-nonsence,,,but we make shots for the audiens,,,not for miss Piggy :)) best niels Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 2, 2008 Since we are encouraged to voice our own opinions and interpretations, I'll say this is a wonderful action picture of a knife thrower, two of whose instruments bracket the head of his streetside assistant. Street entertainment taken to new and dangerous heights. Link to comment
