Beautiful shot. It tells just as much about Nelson as showing his face would. And the color is marvelous.

I don't want to sully such a beautifully textured "portrait" with the suggestion of crass commercialism, but this would make a great album cover. Or tour poster. Or (I wish) beautiful print for my living room wall . . . . I admire the strategy and patience it must have taken to execute this.

Very nice shot! I was just wondering is you did any digital manipulation as you cannot see any part of his torso (it is perfectly black) while the strap holding his guitar is perfectly visible(?)

...Jacob. He is wearing all black, lucky for me. I just spotted off the guitar deck and bracketed under. I would never put a good reputation at risk through altering of images, it's really not needed, I think. Thanks for inciting it's (Photoshop) posssible use though, it's flattering....:-)

Yeah, really good shot under difficult (technical) circumstances

I just use photoshop to color balance, dodge and burn and such. I use to use it for some sharpening but with the scanner I now use (Nikon 4000ED) I don't have to do that.

 

There are some techniques I will use to rescue a bad neg that someone might bring in to the paper such as replace color on a super underexposed high speed neg shot in tungsten light. Email me if you have any other specifics.

 

I wish I had more time for this site but I am hella bizzy lately with the fall colors and other projects.

Reminds me of the Springsteen tour. Great lighting and a dark background puts all the focus in the right areas (guitar, hands and a bit of the red-white-&-blue).

RHAPSODY! but, why 400mm lens and 800 ISO film? Were you in a concert? I think the key ring really clinches it. Without it, the photo would seem less improvised. 7/7 by the way!
