Hi al Farrob,

You are right about the tilting. I don't get it though what you mean by exposure/composition?

The exposure - I wanted to cach the sun and the dark side of the wave. I could use a fill flash but the scene would look a little artificial.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think that it is a great photo. Good timing.

Exposure compensation was clearly done ( on the secon picture) digitaly. My suggestion would be to shoot in RAW format, make to copies with different post processing and combine them using layer mask in photoshop.

Thank you very much for your observations Andrew. This picture was taken with canon S3 which doesn't know to save RAWs.

Now I'm using canon EOS 400d (xti) and I only shoot RAWs. It's amazing how many extra informations are stored in a RAW versus JPEG.

Thanks again for stopping by.D.

I have thirds grid on all my cameras--almost never use it--first thing I have to do to my pics is straighten the horizon!! My brain has the same tilt angle on all my cameras-----the ship-the sun-the wave--make this a great pic to me---how much

PS is involved??------Your comment on my pic is appreciated-----It was quite accidental----the rock ledge really surprised me!!!

Thanks John

:)) prior to this photo post, most of my pictures where a little tilted. Strange I could not figure it out. I could not put my finger on what was not "right" with the image.

After Al Farrob very useful observation, my photos are pretty leveled. I discovered that I can use the focus points to level the image :D. (not a big discovery - they were there from the beginning, but for me it is a good discovery :P ).

The picture from what I recall is not modified in post, but I will check and upload the original version.
