carsten_ranke 0 Posted October 19, 2008 Very good choice of camera point, the water is kind of framed here. Interesting assembly of horizontal, vertical, and circular lines Link to comment
fhmillard 0 Posted October 30, 2008 Thank you Carsten. This was my only vantage point. I did some hue/sat work on the "greenery" at bottom of falls. This, like some of my other photos, was taken with the aid of a climbing harness and anchor rope to get a better view. Link to comment
jo7hs2 0 Posted October 21, 2012 Exceptional photograph of this very challenging location. I'm very impressed. I'm somewhat curious about the climbing harness use (yikes) but it explains the altered perspective. Did you by any chance travel to the bottom of the falls, for some photographs of the base and plunge pool? Very nice down there, but very challenging highlight issues when photographing from below. fhmillard 0 Posted October 21, 2012 joshua, i looked at your portfolio -- you've been to this spot!, i did not like the overgrowth at the overlook (something that is very common, shrubbery occluded views, so i use climbing rope and harness to safely position around the green stuff-- another place ruined by overgrowth is the overlook on GA hwy 348, where the appalachian trail crosses. here i was just passing through, but i have been to bottom, years ago, i'll have to dig out the slides and negatives; the rope and harness are useful for shots of places like abyss lake, from mt. evans, co @14k ft.
