All comments are welcome. Perhaps this is less 'pretty' than some

others I've posted recently. But, it certainly captures the place for

me and I like it as such.

Very good and attractive capture Great detail of fore ground 'thirsty' land and welcome clouds.

I think I'd crop this image to a 3:4 ratio, though that's more a personal preference for the format, in general. This is a nice capture of one of my favorite places on Earth.

A belated welcome to our neck of the woods, by the way! I hope you enjoyed your visit. Did you get up into the Pueblos while you were in that area?

Iftikhar, thanks.

John, thanks. I assume you were thinking of cropping from the bottom? I have never cropped to 4x3 so don't have a mental image of what it'd look like. I'll have to give it a try though. I, personally tend to either settle on 2x3 or 4x5 or, in exceptional circumstances, a custom crop dictated by the image.

And, no, I didn't get to the Pueblos area. I started the day in Nampa ID, drove through Succor Creek and Leslie Gulch and had planned to spend the night on the Alvord playa but the rain and tremendous wind scared me off. The wind violently shook my car and made it nearly impossible to open my car door into the wind and had me concerned. I had also read that rain will turn the playa into an incredibly sticky, muddy, mess and I was only in a 2WD Mazda Protege. So, I planned to drive to Frenchglen and camp for the night and maybe return and further explore the next day.

But, it was pitch black when I got to Frenchglen and I couldn't figure out where I was supposed to go to camp. Plus, I was having some major g-i issues. So, I headed to Burns and the next day decided to go up to the Painted Hills instead of back south.

SE Oregon is probably top of my list of all the places I visited to return to soon. The short span of time I spent in the area did NOT do it justice.

Ian, anytime a photo captures the essence of a place for you, it's a great image. The Alvord is an amazing place, and I agree that SE Oregon is a wonderful place to explore. You were very, very wise to not linger on the playa with rain threatening; you might still be there.

Thanks Stephen -- glad to know I made the right call (have been somewhat second guessing it ever since the day). I would have stayed up on the road near the hot springs. But, there was a very odd looking fellow in a camper fan who seemed to give me a bit too much of a look over each time we passed on the road (then again, maybe he thought the same of me).

Anyways, thanks again for stopping by my pages.
