I tried to find some of the Elvis 1969 sessions you recommended, but no luck yet. I'm open to suggestions. I thumbed through a whole stack of CD's at a local "underground" store, but all they had were "hit" collections. And I confess, I already have his #1 album.

Looking forward to the education.

Artur: Thanks. I usually don't like this heavy a sepia tone, but it seemed to work well here.

Maurizio: Thanks so much. The touch lighting was that this hazy and bleached out sunlight poured through the top left corner, and I had to burn half the photo to recover any detail. Thanks again.

Thanks Jeff, very nice of you. Our conversation made me feel like listening to those old tracks again. One may find Elvis's voice a bit too dramatic there but they're still great songs very well sung. You can find most of the Memphis sessions on two 1969 original albums, " From Elvis In Memphis" which includes In The Ghetto, and "Back In Memphis". They've been reissued as CDs and I think you can find them very easily and at a nice price at Amazon.com for instance. At the moment I'm into one of my all-time favorite singer and musician, Donald Fagen and the Steely Dan whose most renowed tracks date back from the 70s and early 80s. They still sound great after all those years and " Everything Must Go", one of their last albums that came out a couple of years ago is a real jewel. Very different from Elvis, but if you like Jazz/Fusion harmonies and great lyrics, then you should listen to Fagen.

Hi Jeff,

I am just struck by the darkness, possibly a new period that your work will be moving into. Although the smoke and the light at the top add some balance. Overall very intriguing. Take Care Katherine

"have a light - you have great lines but absolutely no trespassing and no climbing at this time" - Wonderful image!

Hi Jeff!

I think your shot should be more effective than the sign in order to avoid trespassing :-)

Very well shot this not easy shot.

My best regards.

looked at photo with the sign and without the sign, I believe the image would have more impact without the sign, as the sign immediately draws you attention to it, as it is the brightest part of the image,

Katherine: I think I'll be doing some moodier shots for awhile. Or maybe not. I'm quite schizophrenic in my subject matter. Thanks.

Tony: Belatedly, thank you much for stopping by.

Jose: Thanks. I'm glad you found this interesting.

Manuel: You've got a point about the sign. For some reason, though, I thought the sign made a good entry point to the photo. Of course, the viewer, I hope, will disobey the sign and climb the stairs with their eyes anyways.

Nader: Often, I try to include something in a photo that is harder to metabolize. Without the sign, the photo is more pleasing and easier to look at. With the sign, I think it's more easily remembered. I may be wrong.....
