RickDB 10 Posted August 31, 2008 Fish eating Weddell seal, weighing up to 1,000 lbs, resting on the rocky shore of Enterprise island, Antarctic peninsula. Link to comment
acarodp 0 Posted August 31, 2008 What I like about this shot is that the seal seems made of stone too, and the overall lack of significant color contrats gives the impression thateverything, rock, water and the animal are forms of the same material. On the other hand, I feel that the direction in which the seal is looking is less than optimal. It would be more pleasant at least to my eyes if it had looked towards the center of the image, not towards a (very near) border. Since I suppose you could not ask the seal to look where you liked, you might have framed it in the right side of the frame instead... but this is just me! Ciao L. Link to comment
RickDB 10 Posted August 31, 2008 ...Thanks Birte and Luca for stopping by. I have to agree with you Luca regarding the direction the seal is looking. We watched the seal for 5 minutes and it wasn't until we started to move off that he (or she?) looked up. Of course we can rotate a large seal like this with the click of mouse ;^) - but then I wouldn't be able to call this an unmanipulated shot. Cheers, Rick DB Link to comment
