Hi, I'd like to know if the illumination of the tree in the

foreground is appropriate or should have been left as silhouette.

Just a silhouette would rest interest to the pictute, but in my opinion you should have used less light or negative flash compensation because the tree results some artificial.

A bit less flash should make the branch more 'natural'. But overall a good picture.

 

The flash seems to overpower the foreground instead of just making it visable.

To harsh light over the bush...

This picture is more about the tree in the foreground. Way too much fill flash. Maybe try -1.5 or -2 on flash exposure to tone down the tree. Background has about the right exposure.
