This is a 2008 shot looking to the comments dates, but only now I had the chance to see it.

It is an undoubtably remarkable portrait.

When I was admiring this portrait, I ask myself what is making the big difference here?

I believe that the tenuous light which crosses the face to the right side has an important role. Notice these details: the very mall light on the right shoulder; the right eye reflex and the rigt side of the nose and lip.

The light on the neck is very important but it is not a detail.

Try to turn them black and you will see a different face.
