Excellent composition and strong feeling of action. Her flying pose really fits with the landscape.

But the darkening of the sky is, in my opinion, too exasperate.

Also, it would have been nicer to have a more extensive shadow of her. Maybe trying shooting at a different hour or with a different angle. As it is now, the shadow resembles only a black stain on the salt plain.

Anyway a very compelling image!

Nice. But Photoshopped? If so, a good PS job, but a little disappointing.

---> Reading that it is in fact a real photo, I'm extremely impressed. Congratulate your model as well on her verts!

Extraordinary light. Composed and exposed flawlessly! Great job! I'm glad you got her above the horizon line and her dark hair in front of a light cloud.

My only complaint is that the angle of her body and the clothing make the dancer look rather thick around the middle.

I'm also surprised that the sky looks noisy. Is that from the scanning?

Interesting and very well done. Just 2 little remarks here... What about getting a tad closer to the dancer ? Possibly using a wider angle ?. Secondly, I'm wondering whether this was truly the best pose or the best tim of the day - simply because other poses or the same pose later would have resulted in a longer and more interesting shadow - imo... Colour of the outfit could also be questionned probably, but well, it's still good work... Regards.

I appreciate all the criticism, all very generous helpful and courteous.

This is only one photograph, photoshop was only used for very basic tonal correction (needed for nearly any scan) and a hue/saturation adjustment layer wherein the blue and cyan portion of the spectrum (only found in the sky) were simultaneously darkened and saturated.

I definitely agree that the photograph could benefit from better styling, time of day, perspective, lens choice, etc. Although I am quite pleased with the image at present, I still (and always) hope to do something better. I guess that's one thing I really love about photography. It's not like the chemistry assignment you turn in and forget about. Instead, you rework and perfect till long after the "assignment" is "due". That's why I know photography is for me...

Matt

I love the composition, and the simplicity of the background (perfect sky and the clouds). Excellent!
