cherlyn 1 Posted August 27, 2008 Yehliu is a cape 1,700 meters long and is formed by the Datun Mountain (大屯山) stretching into the sea,. Rocks in this area are formed 20-25 million years ago. With sea erosion & weathering, many fantastic geological works of nature had come into being. This image shows the Candle Rock, renowned for its appearance, which may also resemble a human breast. It is round in shape with a wick on top. The wick is rich in CaCO3 & has higher weathering erosion resistance than the candle. Despite this, some of the candle-wicks are being eroded, particularly by the salts left by the evaporated sea water around the rim of the central depression. Thanks for visiting. Link to comment
