Ducklings at Sunrise

At sunrise... I tried several shots as the ducklings moved across my

path. I tried flashing the ducks, but those were a bit dull and still

underexposed. I like this a bit more. Suggestions are always

appreciated! Have a nice day.

The colors and the composition are excellent. The only problem I see with it is that my eyes are drawn to the ducks, which are out of focus (but the island is in focus). That's just my opinion though. That said, I do like the picture.

Out of many "contribute a critique" photos today this has definitely most successfully caught my eye. Very, very good composition, with a mix of golden division- and center-based- subjects. Ducks, the island, and the sun are all in strong points of the picture. Well done!

 

However, the ducks are a bit out of focus; this is distracting. The other distracting thing are two spots to the East and to the West of the Sun. Looks like your sensor has caught some dust; but you could have removed the spots in post-processing, too.

 

Other than that, excellent picture.

I thought that since the ducks were silhouetted, it would be better to focus on the island... but I think you're right that that was a mistake and detracts from the composition. Next time.
