jmcconnell2 0 Posted August 26, 2008 Detail! That`s what a macro is all about. EXCELLENT shot! What camera and lens did you use? Link to comment
naturetrek 0 Posted August 26, 2008 Thank you, Jim, for your nice comment. I used a Canon Digital Rebel (300D). The lens was the Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 with a Canon 250D diopter. Thanks again Link to comment

stephenbuhagiar 0 Posted August 26, 2008 Good catch! Nice colours and DOF. I can understand the difficulties to take such a photo, but it would be more effective if the dragonfly was not cropped. 6/6 Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted August 26, 2008 I quite like the crop of the damselfly! All in all it is a very nice photo with its strong composition being one of its best strengths. I like the strong line of the grass blade and how it exits in the corner. Having done the odd insect shot I know how difficult they can be. That said, I would like a touch more depth of field here -- or a different point of sharpest focus. I find the closest eye to be just a tad too out of focus for me. A bit more depth of field might have kept the rear legs in focus too. (Conversely, I would be just as happy with significantly more of the subject out of focus so as to highlight a specific feature) I also find the light a little harsh on the right facing sides of both insects. frank.schifano 3 Posted April 10, 2009 Not bad, but not great either, There are hot spots on the damselfly's head and its victim that are too washed out. Link to comment
