She has a lovely smile and I like the unusual makeup.

A lot of negatives to this image. The colour is too yellow, and far too saturated. Also the sky is blown out white, which is not great. Crop might be too close under the circumstances. DOF blur in the foreground (grass) is generally a no-no. Purple fringing around edges.

Not a great exposure overall but a pretty subject/composition (except for the grass) and worth another shot. This one's a dud. Sorry.

Thank you very much for your comments, Mike. I do believe that you are the very first person to rate one of my photos a 3/3 AND supply comments, so good on you.

The light is from the setting sun, and so is very yellow and bright. I don't know why the blurred grass in the foreground would be a no-no, and would love to hear why that is so. I happen to love the dimensions that the grass gives (foreground and background), and I welcome to hear why you perceive it as being bad. I will edit out the colour a bit to see what effect that will have.

Again, thanks, your criticism is why I've come to photo.net, keep it coming!

I am so glad you didn't find my comments offensive. Actually I considered not hitting the confirm button but I figure honest comment are what pnet should be about.

I am by no means an expert but in reading about DOF I'd always understood that blur in the foreground is considered distracting and unpleasant - but it's a rule, like all rules, which can be broken to taste. If you are happy with it then that is by far the most important thing. Personally I find it unpleasant in this photo. Unfortunately I don't have any specific links for further reading into my opinion - perhaps you could investigate further or get more opinions on the subject of DOF by opening a thread in the forums.

And sorry for the 3/3, sigh I so rarely rate and I hate giving them out but I needed to give a number to what I was saying.

Cheers and happy shooting!
