laura2 0 Posted September 27, 2002 I was interested in some critique on this photograph. Do you like the tint? Should I crop this tighter, or will it destroy the effect of the tree? Should I just leave it alone? What would you rate it. Thanks for your time and assistance. Peace and love. :) Link to comment
ethan 0 Posted September 27, 2002 Wondering if their's any readable detail in the blacks on the original? Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I like to see shadow detail. As for the rest of the photo I love it. You didn't over do the sepia effect. I like how the tree looks as though it's about to eat the buildings in the background it's amusing. The sky is really beautiful too. Keep it up! Link to comment
enin 0 Posted October 4, 2002 great photo! i might crop a bit off the top, about an 1/8 down, framing the scene with the strong horizontal branch. i think the use of silhouette is great. Link to comment
josepmiro 0 Posted October 12, 2002 Really good. The only that I think could improve it is to increase a little de detail of the buildings. The sepia tone is nice but, perhaps for this picture, would have been better a cooler color like blue. Link to comment
max_kaar 0 Posted October 12, 2002 gloomy - nice job getting the bare branches in the image - could've used maybe a bit more separation between the tree and buildings? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 14, 2002 I like the trees so close and hovering, even invading into the city, which looks small and puny compared to the brances of the trees. The tone of the sky is wonderful - I think I know all I need to know about the ciy in the back without more distracting details in the background. Good photo Link to comment
craig_winsor 0 Posted November 3, 2002 Hi Laura! Great mood that you have created in this shot. I really do not think the shadow areas need details. They are dark and spooky. Link to comment
iggam 0 Posted January 15, 2003 I like this a lot. Only a personal suggestion: I really enjoy seeing square cropped photographs. They have a beautiful aspect ratio, and a "professional look". Since yours is almost square, you could make it just by adding a little portion on the top (if it was shot, of course). Link to comment
cnaan_liphshiz 0 Posted February 23, 2003 The situation of the clouds is just perfect text-book movement idicator, which is why you (or rather, I) can see expedited cinematic sunsets and sundowns, countless dawns and dusks, in this otherwise non-presuming mood-shot. A jolly good job! Link to comment
manwilde 0 Posted February 27, 2003 This is a nice one, but , in my opinion, looks a bit too "soft". More contrast, more black and white, no sepia or a darker one would add drama to the shot. By the way, about my gramma´s portrait in Astoria, if you go to 26th st. around 32nd.Av., eight out ten houses belong to people from the very same small fishermen´s village in Spain. You know N.Y., those things happen... Link to comment
stanley_rogouski 0 Posted April 25, 2004 How did you find a tree near Astor Place? Just for that it gets a high mark for originality. Link to comment
