jeremygray 0 Posted August 24, 2008 Neither the front flowers nor the cat are in sharp focus. Because the cat isn't in focus, it feels like it's not really supposed to be part of the composition. Close to good, but not quite there. Link to comment
helenjenkins 0 Posted August 24, 2008 Hi Jerry Thanks for the comment - I wasn't sure if the photo had worked that well. Can you tell me if I had got all the flowers in focus (and the cat out of focus) if you think the photo would have worked? That was the effect I was aiming for. Thanks Helen Link to comment
jeremygray 0 Posted August 24, 2008 Yeah, if you had used a smaller aperture it probably could have worked quite well. Maybe get a bit further away to get the whole cat in the frame too. It'd be tough to get the flowers and cat in focus though, because you'd need such a long shutter speed and the cat would be unlikely to to stand still enough for that. You could focus the cat so that the flowers would be a smooth orange gradient in the right part of the frame, nicely accenting the cat. Link to comment
