A snowstorm hangs on the mountains.

I believe that I used a yellow filter. I shot this in both color and b&w, and wound up preferring the latter.

burning the clouds in would bring out the depth in this picture as well as make a good contras withe moutains.

exposure latitute is too much for film.dark is dark, light is blown out. angle of mountain takes you right out of the picture, looking for ???

no strong center of interest. could use strong foreground element, or unique camera angle. needs graduated filter.

Don't change a thing. It's good, near perfect. Love and like it. There's always people trying to convince you that this little blade of grass should not be there and I say: stick to your own idea. You show what you want to show and that's it.

The exposure latitude has to do with my scanner. My constant complaint, as you might have read, it the loss of zones 1, 2, 8 and 9. Highlights get blown out and some things go pitch black. Personally, I'd rather put the money in a 30mm lens for my XPan, then for a scanner that does a better job.

About the filter: I almost always use a grauated filter for horizon shots, but I didn't want to lose the zone 10 in the snow. I think that would take away from this particular feel. The loss of detail in the clouds is because of the scan, not because of a thin neg. I printed on matt finish Agfa Classic and actually burned some detail in the clouds. The range of tones is much richer on the print.

Who wants to lend me their drum scanner? : )

I like it like it's printed and composed. Moody and antique. IMO, the emotional is more important than the technical and separates the engineers from the artists.
