jay_de_fehr 0 Posted September 27, 2002 I like the way that the contrast works with the shallow dof. The portrait has a feeling of depth. I like your work here, and in this folder in general. You have a beautiful family.-jdf Link to comment
ilia 0 Posted October 8, 2002 Yet another attempt to use 300f4 for portrait. If you liked this image I would appreciate your comments on the rest of the photos in my "Portraits of family and friends" folder. If you are not too much into the portraiture of mine :), maybe you will like my landscapes better. Link to comment
billangel 9,671 Posted October 9, 2002 I agree that it is an effective portrait that captures the "angst" of adolescence. I think that lighting that was not as flat would, however, have improved the aesthetics of the image. Link to comment
ilia 0 Posted October 11, 2002 Bill, I cannot agree with you. In this image I tried to experiment with combination of "super-flat" light and Kodak TechPan25, hoping to produce the smooth youthful appearance of the skin. Apparently it worked. Both me and my wife who's a model here had a laugh (Please, don't take it as an offence) at the "adolescent angst" comment. Considering the fact that years has passed since she got her Masters' degree, and was doing her career long enough to buy a house, your phrasing is extremely flattering.... Link to comment
bruce_jones3 0 Posted December 27, 2002 I like this and I am surprised it's not a much younger woman. She does appear very young and has such lovely eyes. A very good portrait effect. Link to comment
tmjacobs 0 Posted January 17, 2003 Very good indeed! The beautiful face of course helps a lot, but what makes it special is the almost marble-like impression this lighting gives. Link to comment
joe_garrick 0 Posted June 30, 2003 You can count me as another victim of your technique - had I not read the commentary I would have assumed that this was a photo of a girl in her late teens. Aside from the "anti-aging" technique, it's also a very good portrait. You've captured a nicely contemplative look. Kudos to both of you. Link to comment
