I'm not quite sure the "Off-center/not looking at the camera" is your

classic portrait solution, but I hope it works here. What do you

think?

_Wow_

I think the off-center thing gives the illusion of movement. I tried covering up the empty space but I didn't like it as much. The arrangement of contrasting light/dark is very cool. Great model, great hair. I can almost feel the breeze off the water :)

I agree with the above statement. I too tried bringing it more center, but didn't like the results much at all. I'd leave it as is.

Just a note to Angelo: the original wasn't overexposed at all, I decided to go for this "overexposed" look during scanning. Makes you think about all that exposure lattitude low speed b&w film gives you....

Seems there is an epidemic of unnecessary hair cropping. The photo is great, I love the light and the model is striking. If you fear your composition would lose if you leave her left side in the photo, you can always add white space to her right side.

I absolutely love this photo. The amount of blow out in the skin is perfect especially in juxtaposition with the detail in the hair. Beautiful model. Nice clean background. Her shirt does a good job of anchoring the face.

Lovely eyes and smile. Stylish and graceful. I just love this picture.

The blowing-out of the shadows of the nose gives me the impression of the left eye being "pulled" away from the face.

Try doing other shots similar to this. I like the technique!

I tend to agree with Mauricio-José Schwarz about the crop, or at least I think it would be interesting to see it that way for comparison. I'm not sure about the post production treatment - my instinctive reaction is that it's yet another gimmick applied to what would be a good photo without it, but it does seem to work here.
