I love shots like this, with the very close up and far away together in the same frame. The brown of the rocks and the light blue of the sky is a good color combination. I like the kids in the water, but I wish they were a little more out of focus, farther away. Beautiful capture of the water.

Wonderful! Besought my eye right away. I love the composition, colors and angle. I do wish the children were more out of focus or the only things in focus. Great shot though! :)P

Thanks for your responses.

There were a few restraints taking this picture, but I think I got exactly what I wanted.

If I were to back up to take the shot, I'd be on the shore and I wouldn't capture the water how I wanted. If the kids were to move out further, I would have been taking pictures of two kids drowning. This beach got very deep, very quick.

If I were to put the kids more out of focus I don't think you could tell that they were kids. Maybe you could have but I wanted to capture their moment as well as the scene and crystal clear water. I didn't want them to be blobs in the water. There is just something about two kids wading/playing in the water in the middle of summer that gives you a good feeling. I thought if the entire scene was IN focus the picture would have been very ordinary. I think you would have lost the sense of depth. The picture would have been more about them and less about what I really wanted to capture.

This picture was taken at School House Beach on Washington Island, Wi. It's located off the tip of Door Co, in Lake Michigan. School House Beach might be my all time favorite beach, it's a hidden treasure. The water is crystal clear 20'+ deep. The bay protects the beach from waves and wind. Also there is a rather large ship wreck in the middle of the bay, which is very cool to see. The great thing about it is, how few people even know about it. The beach is also bordered by a very old, beautiful forest, with twisting tall trees. I have a few pictures of the surrounding trees in my portfolio as well. Check them out if you want.
