It is not obvious but a flash (strobe) was used to increase the detail in the wood. This is a good example how contrast can be lowered using a combination of natural light and flash, hence the added wood detail. F2 was used to increase the effect or power of the flash, so that the slightly limited depth of field shows up in that the back of the hall is slightly out of focus, but it does not seem to detract from the effectiveness of the shot.
