Guest Guest Posted July 30, 2008 My guess is that the couple just loves this. It's such a great Micki take on a classic scene. Great compositional balance, just the right blending of silhouette and depth because of subtle light allowed in the shadowed areas, especially on the pier, the foreground, and I love that I can make out the stepped pattern in the lower left corner. Her gown is amazing and his handsome smile tells a sweet story. Heck, I'd marry him. And I can now, you know, at least in California. (Except he might resist!) Question about the bright outlining along the pier's dark lines. In this case, because it's such a fanciful scene to begin with and has such a story book and idyllic feel to it, those outlines don't bother me, they actually kind of add a sweet touch, but I'm wondering if they were intentional or not. That does often happen when making lighting, levels, and color adjustments and it's just worth noting their presence. Love it! Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted July 30, 2008 This is beautiful Micki. I'm sure this couple is thrilled with it. It is original, not the standard wedding picture. Wonderful work, you should be proud. All the best. Link to comment
laverephoto 0 Posted July 31, 2008 I kind of think you dropped the couple into this background in photoshop. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but the lighting leads me in that direction. Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted July 31, 2008 I like the darkness of the pier as a base for the white dress. This image has a simplicty that I like. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted August 1, 2008 Well Susan I think John gave it up ~ but honestly the lighting in the place we were at was AWFUL and i spent forever just getting the dress white regardless :) Fred, You kind of caught it with the lines and probably after studying it would have figured it out. I have been doing this for a while and plan on doing this for a charity thing coming up and am using several of these sunsets as the backdrop for the "picture choices". I think this one will work wonderfully. Anyway, Since they were not able to make it to the sunset or the beach I did this for them. I also did a beach one but this one was prettier. I did this one with the face showing for his mom (who is a friend of ours). I just love these types of pictures anyway. Thank you for thinking it was done so well as to almost fool you guys. :) It made my day. Truth is I have been trying to get this almost perfect and hopefully I am getting it down to where it is quick and easy and I can doing it easy peasy. Jan, You are so so so sweet. :)~ micki Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 7, 2008 It is a great piece, and I would love it if it were my wedding shot as well. I do agree with John, and maybe I'm being picky.. I would burn in a bit on her dress to give more of a differential, giving it a more natural look. Sorry... I did a real quick edit... but... I'm thinking something like this. Link to comment
