Not Here 93 Posted July 28, 2008 El... This is an image that can be viewed over and over and find something new each time. Just the couple in the cart would have been a great image, and the reflection could stand alone if needed, but the two together and the composition you've selected is perfect. Excellent! JatinderKeith 0 Posted July 30, 2008 It is a picture of the desire and dream of humble people with limited resources, I imagine with no or a very modest home. They are looking very intently into the reflection of a tall building. Even their dream is a small patch on the roadside. A very well captured candid photograph Link to comment
todd_mcdonald 0 Posted July 30, 2008 Fantastic shot! It reminds me of a Cartier Bresson image. That fleeting instant and quick, quick eye. Chapeau! Link to comment

laurent-paul 1 Posted September 26, 2008 I understand your name when looking at this photo ! The composition is absolutely brilliant : you've got two different half compositions in only one ! The first one beeing the diagonale from bottom left to top right, using the "actidental line of the road : And this works like a border the cart is moving from one world into another. Both the man and woman are looking into the future, into the world they are about to enter. But isn't the future only a reflection of the one they are leaving, a reflection of the past ? But the composition is also a diptych : cut into two vertical parts : So not only the people are int the process of crossing the border, are in both worlds at the same time, through this second vertical composition we understand they are cut from the reflection and they even take the risk the get away from it as the horse seems to want to go away from it. But this is where the couple is looking at or looking for perhaps. And finaly the cleverest part of all is the dychotomy used with the color tonalities and the way they are used : The whole environment is a perfect B&W photo as well as the reflection of the environment itself is black and white : Time itslef then is black and wihite ( but a subtile one in mid-tones, not a manichean way of thinking ). And inside, over, through time, life is color ... Link to comment
