lesa jones 0 Posted July 23, 2008 Norman, unfortunately yes there are some participants here at PN who will take your images and edit, or even worse use for their own personal use. I don't know the extent of how many images are "stolen" or rather copied by others, but that is the chance you take by putting pix on the web. I would like to think that most PN users are honest and credible, but that may be wishful thinking. From my experience, other PN'ers who take the time to edit or tweak another's image, are USUALLY polite enough to either 1.) ask permission to do so prior to doing, 2) perform the edit, INFORM you of the actual corrections, or technique they used, in order for you to learn, or 3) perform the tweaking only after words fail to communicate what one of the participants is attempting to say. Does that make sense? If I ever edit someone's image and post it back in their critique, I usually explain what actions I took, (cropping, noise reduction, white balance, sharpening, etc, etc), why I took those actions, (ie. white balance adjusted because image needed more warmth), and then state that it is just my humble opinion and beg them for forgiveness for working on their image. In my opinion that is what Janne should have done. Janne should be specific in what was done to the image and why they think it looks better than yours. That way you, and everyone who reads the critique, learns something new. Oh, sorry it took me a few days to get back with you, I was on a short vacation. Link to comment
