mac_alain 0 Posted September 18, 2002 No that *is* interesting. Like straight out of a fairy tale. I like (German) fairy tales, and I like this. It's original all right, whatever that means... BTW the correct name is Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Link to comment
drfl 0 Posted September 18, 2002 I hate mispelling things and that one was a doozy. Thanks for the catch, and the comment too! Link to comment
davidmalcolmson 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I was struck by the almost painterly quality of this lovely photograph. I assume you did some afterwork in Photoshop or such - I wouldn't criticise you on that count because the results would justify it. Link to comment
iggy_river 0 Posted September 20, 2002 This photo is amazing!! Please say how much work was done in photoshop (I don't think photoshop is good or bad; just a tool like a camera, or an enlarger, or cibachrome paper, etc). I am fascinated. I would love to see the orginal (unretouched) photo for comparison. Are you sure this is not a photo of a painting?!? Awesome composition w/ the wall drawing the eye in, great sky, textures, whole nine yards. The smear in UL beside the roof of the tower is the only drawback that I notice. What is it? All the best, -iggy Link to comment
drfl 0 Posted September 20, 2002 I started with a photograph I took in Rothenburg in January of 2001. Since it was winter none of the trees had leaves. In addition I felt that the light on the building was too harsh and the sky did not have enough umph. I guess I thought the photograph had potential but it needed more. I decided to give it a more of a art feel. To achieve the desired affect I first darkened the hue of the blue in the photograph. I then lowered the contrast so that the harshness of the sun on the building was toned down, but only slightly. Now here comes the fun part, I used a tool known as "Adust Local Equalization". I adjusted this to achieve the desired effect. Here is where I mention that I am not a photoshop user, I use Corel PhotoPaint!. It is not because I don't like Photoshop, nor is it because I am a Corel snob. This is because I have been using Corel since version 3 (they are now on version 11) and I am very comfortable with the controls and the interface. I do not know what the equilivant is in Photoshop, but I am sure there probably is one. I have referenced the original photograph below as a starting point. Please let me know if you find the equivilant for this tool if there is one./photodb/image-display?photo_id=1021074&size=md Link to comment
mg 0 Posted September 21, 2002 It looks very good, but it also looks very small ! :-) Any chance you could upload a larger version...? It is very difficult to appreciate how well executed a Photoshop work is at such a size. Regards. Link to comment
