My apologies in advance for what I am about to say if it comes across as needlessly harsh. Please remember that it is only my opinion. I am clearly in the minority because this has been rated very highly be a number of people.

But:

1. I really don't like this composition with the cut in half trees on the right hand side. I would like to see the tops of those trees. I also find the whole scene right-hand heavy with less interest on the left.

2. I find the point to point contrasts problematic. There is a cartoonish quality to this in my eye. This is accentuated by the heavy saturation and slightly yellowish greens.

3. The overall contrasts are also problematic. The trees on the right are much darker at top than bottom and this is true with a number of other items in the scene. I also notice the blown-out sky in the middle, slightly to the right.

We all have our own taste and this isn't mine. Perhaps I should have just held my tongue, but, I had hoped you might be interested in what it was that was turning me off here.

Best wishes,

Ian.

I appreciate the feedback and kind words. Ian I have to commend you on your forth right critique and point by point reasons for your unsatisfactory rating. It took alot of courage to back up your rating with solid reasons and for that I am grateful. My images will not be liked by all and I can agree with some of your points. After all this is a place to learn from our fellow photographers no matter how harsh their criticism. Best Regards

There is something about the image that draws me in - well done. Compositionally I might have approached it differently and no two photographers should capture a scene the same way. A scene like this I would have worked and proceeded to take at least 20 images because it has so much going for it. I know that Ian justified his low rating and beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I don't agree with his low rating. But I do appreciate him taking the time to write the comment because so many people hide behind their low ratings (the vast majority) with out supplying their rationale. 6/6
