JatinderKeith 0 Posted July 25, 2008 It is less a picture of father and son and more of the contemporary lower middle class and of their contentment despite the compulsions of life. The tea vendor does not have a happy expression though not discontented. The boy should have been in school or playfield. He is compelled to learn his father’s trade and perhaps support him. His back turned to the ‘work’ and the lines on his forehead symbolise his dislike for it. The firewood smouldering in the stove without flames is a metaphor on the state of their lives. The brightly lit middle of the frame with dark corners is an expression of the gloom having been overcome with contentment. The pyramid composition symbolises their doggedness. A very apt representation of the lower middle class. Mr. Syal, you have been putting life in the lifeless stills. I look forward to your more captures of real life. Link to comment

afshinazizi 0 Posted July 26, 2008 InfacT what can I say ? Is this just one shot ? or a sTory book with many words to say ? You are worked as an story teller in this shot , great RAKESH ! Arrangment , composiTion , Lighting coming into the place trought the left , old fire place !The balance at the dark side f the work that can be a symbol of forgotten & lost Justice (lost for this poor family and all other families like this ) ! father is cooking ,and the way that innocent child is looking ! Where is he looking ? what is he looking ? Looking for his mother ? where is the mother ? and many other quesTions that will be make for the viewer and He/She asks Him/Hersel ! Thank you for Sharing it us ! All mu compliments and Regards Afshin Link to comment
