wogears 186 Posted July 8, 2008 Fine portrait, good capture of the expression. B/W is well-handled, IMO, but the bright stuff in the bg is very distracting. Link to comment
jzq 0 Posted July 8, 2008 No critique, just a query: How, exactly, did you get this black and white effect? And how did you get those eyes?! Link to comment
mike_dinn 0 Posted July 8, 2008 I was skimming through the photos and when I came to this one, the Gentleman's face stopped me. Something sad about it. I enlarged it and his eyes were polarizing. I could see speckles and flecs in them. I might be a little curious as to their colour but I think this photograph works so well for me because its black and white. I really don't need to know. Beautiful eyes. I truely enjoy this portrait. I see all the detail and character of this gentleman's face. I'm not so sure but I might suggest cropping a little of the black space above his head. A fabulous portrait. Bravo. Link to comment
version mirror 0 Posted July 8, 2008 Thanks for the comments. The b&w is all made by dodging/burning and brightness/contrast control by hand in CS3. The eyes were brought out by dodging/burning and angling a flash over my shoulder and bouncing it off the wall behind me rather than shooting direct into the face.
