nadopix 0 Posted July 6, 2008 Good, soft pallette of colors. I'm 50/50 on the horizon because part of me wants it gone (more abstract); part thinks it should remain (mostly abstract, but some reality). Either way, good job. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 6, 2008 Thanks Tim. The horizon is a harsh element in an otherwise very soft image. I'm undecided myself. Link to comment
henderson 0 Posted July 6, 2008 Beautiful shot, Jeff! I can see why you're debating dropping the horizon. I think the lower part of the shot (below the horizon) is a very painterly abstract, but I also think part of the magic of it comes from knowing that it's the ocean below a twilight sky, which we need the horizon to understand. Perhaps a crop just below the base of the clouds would be a good compromise, as we'd then get a sense of where this is, without the harsh reality of the clouds in the shot. I love the softness of the ocean... very well done! Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 6, 2008 Scott, thanks. A critique like this and the one from Tim is the best. I'm trying to keep this series square, having realised that my work is all over the place, size-wise. I think that you are right and the crop would tell the story better without distraction. jeff.grant 0 Posted July 8, 2008 Thanks Afshin, this was taken shortly after sunset, The sunset wedge of colour in the East is quite strong at this time of the year. Link to comment
images_in_light_north_west 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Great as usual Jeff, how long was your exposure on this one? Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Thanks Ross. It was 32 seconds, f/16, ISO 50. 32 seconds is the current maximum on the H3D. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted August 7, 2008 This one is softer, gentle, with wonderful colors, and there's a great unity between top and bottom. All very fluid, wonderful - and my favorite of this kind in this folder. Regards. Link to comment
