llgarcia 1 Posted July 5, 2008 Nice landscape. I am little distracted by the the sky reflection in the water. I may be wrong. Great composition though. Link to comment
henderson 0 Posted July 5, 2008 Excellent composition. Stunning contrast of the green hill with the deep blue sky and the hull of the boat. The reflection is so different from the sky that I'm pretty certain the sky was composited in after the fact. The eye always tends to go to the brightest part of a shot, and currently that's the water. I think it would be very worthwhile to composite a flipped version of the sky into the water, just to eliminate this source of distraction, or at least burn the water out a little to bring it into the same tonal range as the sky. GerrySiegel 868 Posted July 6, 2008 Interesting subject. Background boat aground on sand adds dimension to the photo. One nitpick re the title. I think you meant this beached craft was awaiting the Flood Tide. If I am wrong, ignore that last correction. Hard to tell what the cracks are in the foreground, I wish they were not there, frankly. Would add strength to the main subject which to me is the interesting sail boat in foreground. Good scape shot...gs Link to comment

WJT 634 Posted July 6, 2008 Cody, that is because this is a composite with the clouds pasted in from another photograph. Kevin is famous for his composite creations and usually does a very nice job with them. I like the composition in this and the bright green of the far hill adds a nice touch. The reflection of the clouds in the water, on the other hand, does not match the clouds in the sky and is quite distracting. It has been a long time since I have been on a planet where the high altitude cirrus clouds, the "horse tail" forms of which are being created by high velocity winds at extreme altitude, extend down to the horizon such as these do.I think if they had been rotated 45 degrees clockwise before being composited that the image would have been more believable. seungkyelee 0 Posted July 7, 2008 Very nice sky! This is a special scenery with an amazing sky. The colors and post-processing draws it down a little I think. Colors are kind of unnatural and the contrasts seem bland...almost reminds me of some HDR images where the colors mix a little blurry into eachother. Other than that; it`s an awesome photo!
