gary_gabriel 0 Posted September 18, 2002 The top 2/3 of this photograph is almost completely black, except for the memorial. I think these large empty areas detract from the composition. I'd do one of two things with this: either expose the photo more to be able to see the trees on both sides of the water (is this over the Potomac? I can't tell because it's too dark...), OR change the camera orientation to vertical and zoom in more. Tall thin objects are almost always better when shot in a vertical orientation, unless there are enough other objects to the sides. Link to comment
annarino 0 Posted October 5, 2002 I can't imagine it any other way. Looks great! The glow... the crowd.. the monument. Great. Link to comment
mike_sea 0 Posted October 13, 2002 Nice shot. It looks a great place to snap away. However Ken, you have managed to actually provide a different persepectiv on a standard shot which I appreciate. Keep up the good work Mike Sea Link to comment

ivan colman 0 Posted March 8, 2003 The special lighting adds the possibility of symbolistic interpreatation. The symmetrical composition turns out very good. It helps the gradual exploration of the whole image. The "dark area's" serve very well the symmetrical composition. A little detail in this should be better, but I think almost impossible to obtain (without post exposure hocus pocus) Link to comment
