Canon 20d with EF 17-40 f/4L. Camera about 18 inches off the water. Exposure of a few seconds with grad ND. Black flies crawling up my nose and in my ears.

I was just coming off the trail after shooting in another location and walked into this scene. I scrambled to get setup and make just a few exposures before the red completely faded from the horizon. Fog was rolling-in as you can see on the left side of the image.

Please let me know your thoughts on this image.

 

It was taken with an exposure of a few seconds on a 20d with a 17-40

f/4L at 17mm, f/22, grad ND, shutter lock-up, and remote release. The

tripod was in a few inches of water along the shore with the camera

about 24 inches off of the water. The black flies were crawling up my

nose ;)

Wonderful photo considering you stumbled on it and set up with an ND grad. Symmetry, constrained color palette. Very strong photo.

Thanks Alan! I tend to keep the 17-40mm and Cokin filter holder on the camera, especially when I'm out shooting landscapes. Having those already mounted saved time. I also keep a grad ND and circ pol at close reach in my bag along with the remote release.
