Tiles (detail)

This is sort of emblematic of the Dutch influence in the world. The painted tile is a technique learnt from the Moors during the Spanish rule. The figures are supposed to represent the people under Dutch rule during the oversea Empire, both the Antilles and the Indonesian Far East are represented. The tiles are supposed to be from the 17th century.
