wilana 0 Posted June 29, 2008 When I saw the thumbnail I was quite excited, because the inquisitive of the child is so well captured. I would have liked the eyes to be in focus instead of the fence, but still lovely photo. Link to comment
drr 0 Posted June 30, 2008 Matthijs, I like it. I especially like the angle you used. It adds a sense of movement and even urgency congruent with the girl's expression. We cannot tell what has happened or is happening (other than your explanation via the title) and this provokes the viewer leaving us to project a meaning. An arresting image. Congrats. - Roy Link to comment
fabiano 0 Posted July 7, 2008 Nice shallow DOF, but also prefer the eyes in focus, your best photo in my opinion. Link to comment
matthijs 0 Posted July 8, 2008 The picture was taken at exactly the same place that I shot the deer picture that's also in B&W. By the way, the fence is angled and the shot was taken level. I think the fence is like that to make climbing it harder for the animals on the other side. (There are rabbits and other critters as well.) As for DoF: I love my 70-200/f4; to me it has a perfect depth and sharpness while being a flexible and relatively lightweight tool. Link to comment
John Peri 1,038 Posted April 11, 2010 a lot of expresion caught here, an impromptu moment very well captured, bravo. The focus may be slightly lacking, but I symopathize that the light is probably not ideal and what is more important I believe is the moment. Link to comment
matthijs 0 Posted April 11, 2010 Thanks John! The light wasn't great but the main issues were à brand new lens, not that much experience with that camera in general and a subject that didn't keep still. It's one of the few portraits here because my wife prefers to keep those personal. Thanks for your comments, especially the glowing remark on my portfolio, Matthijs. Link to comment
