I looked at your portfolio, and I like most of your photos, but this one is totally different and it doesn't seem to be shot by the same person, at least to me. You took this flower out of his natural world, making it look like an artificial 3D model. Why that? Greetings, Radoslav

Thanks for the compliments!

You certainly have a sensitive eye. Yes this is off on a different direction for me. This is partly from getting a new Nikon D40 (most of my other pictures are film,) party from the fact that this one is heavily photoshopped (usually I leave things alone.)

I wanted to try something new, this is a project I've wanted to do for a long time, until now I didnt have the equipment or the skills to pull it off!

Thanks again. Hope you like the shot.

Dave

one more thing...

The reason why is this: I wanted the picture to be midway between a vintage botanical illustration and a photo.

Thanks for the answer and congratulations for your new D40! I was not aware, you are working on a project with a particular goal, but now I am sure, you'll finish it :) Yes, Photoshop is a nice program, but when it's effects are not overused. Good luck!

Yes i would like to take some more shots in this style. The idea was to look midway between a watercolor and a photo. I hope i did not overdo photoshop on this???

Well, well, well....look who decided to rejoin the fun after a hiatus of a few months! I agree with an earlier comment, this is a very different look for you Dave...but I like it very much. The curves and lines are very lyrical, and beautiful. Glad you have come back to the party!!! Regards...LJ
