I took some pictures during 9-11 ceremony at San Francisco's union

square. This one is my favorite because to me the man uniform

representing the "heroes"(Fireman, Police etc) who have to be tough

even in sad occasion. The crying man represents the "victims", his

expression shows what people have to go through with the tragedy.

I'm not a Photo Journalist so any critique for my first attempt at

Journalism would be appreciated.

The photo is indeed captivating, but my interpretation is a little different from that of the photographer. The standing man is wearing the uniform of the Salvation Army, and *to the kneeling man* clergy might also be among the "heroes" of 9/11 (thoughts from some that clerics are the cause of 9/11 notwithstanding).

You did a good job of capturing the moment. The photo seems to imply a much greater story beyond what's shown in the image. Kneeling Man seems filled with loneliness and grief and is begging for help. Standing Man is possibly capable of helping, but the look on his face shows that he is not comfortable with helping.

I'm sorry richard, but I'm going to have to disagree with your opinion on the salvo. I believe that his face is not saying that he is uncomfortable in helping, more that he is struggling to conceive an appropriate emotion.

There is nothing more provoking than watching a grown man weep, so imagine how the salvo is feeling right now. I believe that he may be struggling with his own emotions, blessing this man with a comforting smile, while attempting to keep a brave face and, like a doctor, not let his feelings affect the tasks he has given himself entirely to do.

God bless the Salvation Army!

Excellent! Pictures are like poems, different people interpret differently. I see a man, an old man who has lived quite many no. of years yet there are moments in his life where he just breaks down. We all have feelings, we all get hurt: old or young, white or black, man or woman, deep down we all are the same. A BW version of this would be excellent as well.

Nice picture! It's hard to tell somethig for such a emotional shot, but you can crop out light area from left side to make more impact on crying man. Thank you for sharing nice picture.
