landscapes: black & white Calm Before The Storm (B&W)

Black and white version and slightly different crop of previous post. Does

B&W work better? All comments appreciaterd.

I think this is a case where color is more effective at conveying the sense of the distance and size of the mountains in the background, because of how the color characteristically shifts toward blue; here the hazy effect just seems muddled. I love B&W and here the textures in the foreground are working very well, but I would go with color on this one.

Thanks for the insight, Jeff. I mostly agree. I actually think B&W would be much more effective for this shot and show more depth if I was able to increase the contrast. I tried that, but the sky looked blown out, so I backed off until I saw some detail in the sky again. Unfortunately, it made the rest of the comp look slightly muddled, as you pointed out.Thanks for commenting.
